Our Teachers

photo Rhea Stevenson

Rhea grew up in the Michigan countryside playing music with her brother Justin in their basement studio.  She played electric and classical guitar, clarinet, piano, and percussion instruments. While Justin went on to become a big-time musician in NYC, Rhea pursued a teaching career.  Since graduation from Mac Murray College in Illinois in 1995, she has taught Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, American Sign Language, preschool, and elementary school aged children.  She moved to Flagstaff in 2006  and began Music Together® with her son Logan when he was an infant.  "Seeing the changes in my son and how he responded to Music Together was pure magic.  I am so thankful to have this opportunity to share the joys of music with the families of Flagstaff!"  Rhea took over the Directorship in August 2015 and is thrilled to continue the legacy that Kristina has created.  Making music in the Flagstaff community has and continues to be her passion!

Amber Jones grew to love music as a child. She started playing the flute in the 3rd grade and loved performing in bands and other ensembles. Her musical passion brought her to Northern Arizona University as a music performance major but she would ultimately graduate with a Bachelors degree in biomedical science and a Masters degree in biology. Music had taken a back seat for years until she took her daughters, Ada and Maya, to their first Music Together class. ‘There is so much I enjoy about this program. It is researched based, the music is enjoyable, and my entire family loves it. I knew immediately I wanted to be a teacher.” She looks forward to sharing her renewed love of music with you and your families.

  Austin Gilbert

Austin Gilbert is a student at Northern Arizona University studying music education. From a young age, his mother exposed him to music by hosting karaoke and encouraging him to sing. Starting the clarinet in the elementary school band flourished into a career of performing in various ensembles. Austin's favorite setting to perform music in is a chamber group, because it makes beautiful music and lasting relationships. He hopes to bring this attitude to Music Together to create the same feeling with you and your children!
